What the Mets Need to Do to Contend

As weird as it may sounds I think the R.A. Dickey was a good first step in the Mets rebuilding process. Even though he came off a Cy Young season, he's old and sometimes you have to sell people at their peaks to get the most in return for them and they got some promising young prospects, specifically Travis D'Arnaud. He could be opening day starter or future starter however the Mets want to use him. I think one thing the Mets should do if in their financial range is to acquire Michael Bourn. He's probably the best free agent last year and coming off a solid season and can do it all. That would help solidify the outfield. Another thing they need to do is fill the void that Dickey has left in the pitching rotation. Johan Santana will obviously be the number 1 but the Mets need more than that. With players in the free agency like Brian Wilson and Roy Oswalt out there I don't see why they don't make a move to acquire one or both of them. This would help the rotation and the oh so terrible bullpen of the New York Mets. There is more to it than just that but that would give them a good start to get back in the picture. And one more thing someone needs to remind the Mets that the season has two halves as they typically are a first half team. Check out the link below for some insight of just how good D'Arnaud could be...I know it's Minor League but that's pretty much all we can go off of. Fast forward to the 1:00 mark. And I know I'm a diehard Yankees fan but I will talk positively about all local teams on this blog.
