Florida Gulf Coast University Shocks the Nation

Last year during March Madness the entire nation saw two fifteen seeds knock off a two seed, (Lehigh over Duke and Norfolk State over Missouri) and Florida Gulf Coast kept up the trend. Out of the 8.15million brackets submitted online on ESPN.com , only 6.3% had FGCU winning over Georgetown. I'm guessing 100% of those choices come from the Fort Myers area in Florida where FGCU is located.

The upset was led by Sherwood Brown who boasted 24 points on the night along with his teammate Bernard Thompson who had 23 points. The Eagles led by as much as 17 points at one point, and just as Georgetown seemed to climb back into the game by hitting back to back 3s, FGCU did something every team needs to do to win, hit their free throws (maybe Michigan should take notice I.E. vs. Indiana).

Don't expect the party to stop for the eagles, they face San Diego State next who is also impressive but if they beat the Hoyas I see no reason for SDSU to stop them. The sweet sixteen should be their limit as they will meet either Florida or Minnesota who are both playing hot.
