Don't Burn Your Bracket... Yet

The opening day of March Madness proved to be what the name implies. With such teams as Harvard and California shaking up brackets, sports fans have been getting the lighter fluid ready. Harvard earned their first tournament win in program history yesterday, and what better way to do it than knocking off a team that many saw having a shot at reaching the sweet 16. As for California making their mark, they upset the dark horse of the East bracket, UNLV who had a shot at upsetting Syracuse as well, until I saw Syracuse play yesterday who was shooting lights out with numbes of 51.9% from the field and 45.5% from behind the arc, and held Montana to only 34 points...total. VCU who is dropping the image of a Cinderella team, got the anticipated win over Akron, and will face Michigan in the next round, which will be one of the most entertaining games of the entire tournament, along with the game between Oregon and St. Louis.

Gonzaga faced a scare against Southern University, and to me they keep everyone wondering if they really deserve that #1 seed, only having 2 losses all season can help that. Marquette also saved a lot of fans brackets, by staying alive. Davidson ran the show for the first 39 minutes of the game, and it sucks that they decided not to show up for that last minute, because I had them making it to the sweet sixteen.

As for today the games to pay close attention to is Wisconsin vs. Ole Miss, Creighton vs. Cincinnati, and Minnesota vs. UCLA. I have Ole Miss, Creighton, and UCLA winning those games, and even though they are higher seeded, Wisconsin seems to be getting no credit for their performance this season, beating Indiana and Michigan twice, along with Ohio State, all who are 4 seeds and higher.
