Does #1 Matter?
#1 Indiana wen't down last night to unranked Illinois at Assembly Hall in Champaign, Illinois. That is the 4th straight week that the top ranked team has lost. It started with Duke losing to NC State, then Louisville lost to Syracuse, then Duke lost to Miami, then Michigan lost to Indiana, now Indiana has lost. Indiana lost one of the craziest games of the season losing on a last second layup, to lose 74-72. So in this crazy College Basketball season, no one has seem to emerge as the clear cut best team in the nation. From the beginning of the season I thought Indiana was the most complete team in the nation but they have some vulnerability as has every top team. My question to you is does being #1 in the regular season really mean that much? As long as you make the tournament I think you have a legitimate shot at winning the title, that is the beauty of College Basketball. I don't think a number 1 seed matters and even so you don't have to be #1 in the nation to get a #1 seed for the tournament. So in my opinion all of these teams really shouldn't dwell on any of these losses as long as they bounce back. Here is the video of that crazy last second win by Illinois. Does this play get them in the tournament?
